News To Know: semi knocks out power in Jasper County, and a fatal crash in Wilson County, Kansas | Crime

JOPLIN, Mo. – Joplin Fire Department does battle with a Monday afternoon blaze. Crews responded to a structure fire in the Blendville neighborhood of Joplin just after three 30. Flames were visible on the south side of the structure. Flames had also spread into a small grass fire that was quickly contained. The JPD says the structure was vacant with no utilities. Jasper County, Mo. – A semi-crash takes out a power pole and knocks out electricity for thousands of customers in Southwest Missouri — including Webb City, Oronogo, Alba, and Purcell, Missouri — around ten yesterday evening. The Empire electric power outage map showed about 4,200 customers without power, although crews had power restored by just after midnight. No word on whether anyone was hurt in the crash. WILSON COUNTY, Kan. – A Monday afternoon crash takes the life of a Wichita woman. The crash happened just before 3:00 in the afternoon when a 2004 Nissan Maxima driven by Taylor Chrisman crossed the center line on U400 1 mile south of Fredonia in Wilson Couunty. The Maxima struck the front of a 2015 Chevy Traverse driven by Shelli Nyambane. The traverse broke into several pieces. Nyambane was taken to Wesley Medical Center with suspected serious injuries. Chrisman, age 18, was pronounced deceased.

MAYES COUNTY, Okla. – The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and federal authorities arrested a Mayes County, Oklahoma man on child pornography charges. Authorities say they received a tip last December about child pornography uploaded through an IP address belonging to Paul Cook. Cook was arrested last Friday. He is charged with distribution and possession of child pornography, as well as violating the Oklahoma computer crimes act.
